How do you get into Langley School, Loddon? Families apply through the online Admissions Portal for Year 6 (10+), Year 7 (11+), Year 9 (13+) or Year 12 (16+), then usually attend an invited taster day, an interview with the senior school's head and a school assessment before an offer is made and secured by a deposit. The pages we read do not name a test provider or publish papers, so the assessment sits inside a wider visit-and-interview process.
Applications are accepted throughout the year, and 7+ entry is into Langley Prep at the Taverham site, the school's own prep school. Scholarships at 11+, 13+ and 16+, means-tested bursaries and boarding from age 10 run alongside day entry.

Entry points and places

How the 11+ assessment works
The 11+ assessment at Langley is one stage of a visit-based process, and the pages we read do not publish papers, subjects, timings or a test provider. The application page describes a taster day by invitation and, depending on the child's age, an interview with the Headmaster followed by an assessment.
Because the content is unpublished, families who want the exact format can ask the Loddon admissions office, which takes calls on 01508 520210 extension 2 and emails at admissions@langleyschool.co.uk.
The 13+ route follows the same registration, reference, interview and assessment steps. No Year 6 or Year 7 pre-test, Common Entrance sitting or set of school papers is described for Year 9 entry, and scholarship candidates sit separate scholarship assessments.

Enquire about this tutorInterviews, taster days and references
Applicants from 7+ upwards are invited to an interview with the Head of Senior or Head of Prep and, where applicable, to a taster day. Parents submit the child's latest school report and a passport or birth certificate, and the school requests a reference from the current school once the registration form and fee are received and parents have given permission.
At Prep taster days a snapshot assessment lets staff observe how a child works in lessons, and a written report goes to parents. Overseas applicants whose first language is not English are interviewed by the EAL department and complete a piece of writing. For pupils with specific learning difficulties, the SENCO decides whether the school can provide support, drawing on interview, files, EHCPs or educational psychologist reports.
Registration and the admissions timeline
Registration comes first, and the application page sets out six steps in order, with applications accepted throughout the year and families encouraged to apply early to avoid missing a space.

Scholarships and bursaries
Langley offers senior scholarships at 11+ (Year 7), 13+ (Year 9) and 16+ (Year 12) in Academic, Art, Computing, Design and Technology, Drama, Food and Nutrition, Languages, Music, Photography and Sport. The admissions policy limits some areas by entry point, listing Languages at 11+ and 13+ and Photography at 13+ and 16+, and a scholarship is worth a fee remission of up to 15%, with a smaller exhibition award of 5%.
Candidates submit an application form and a reference from a Head of Department, class teacher or coach, then attend a scholarship assessment week in January. Academic and Languages assessments take place at the site of application, whilst Art, Drama, Music, Sport, Computing, Design and Technology and Food and Nutrition assessments run at Loddon.
Means-tested bursaries typically go up to 50% of fees and are assessed on parental income. They are requested as part of the school application, reviewed annually, and open to scholars too; families invited to interview provide a confidential statement of financial position.
Fees and what they include
Day fees at the Loddon senior school are charged termly in two bands, one for Years 6 to 8 and one for Year 9 to Upper Sixth, with VAT added to the fee shown. The figures sit in the key facts above and on the school's fees page.
Weekly boarding, flexi boarding for two or three nights and ad hoc nights from Sunday to Thursday are priced on top of the day fee, whilst full boarding is quoted as a single termly figure that includes the day fee. Optional extras include the football and rugby academies, EAL support and one-to-one learning support.
Lunches are charged separately, transport is priced by distance and paid termly in advance, and school photographs and exam fees fall outside the fee. A non-refundable registration fee accompanies the application and a refundable deposit follows acceptance, with higher deposits for boarding.
Discounts listed on the fees page include 20% for forces and military families and sibling reductions of 7.5%, 15% and 20% for the second, third and fourth child.
Where pupils join from
Many Loddon pupils can move up from Langley Prep, the school's own prep school at Taverham for ages 7 to 13, which sits above a pre-prep for ages 4 to 7 and Bluebell Nursery, taking children from 6 months at both sites. The deposit transfers from Prep to the senior school, so Prep families pay no further deposit, and pupils not moving up give notice to the Head of Prep by the end of the Michaelmas term.
11+ scholarships are available at both the Taverham and Loddon sites. The school names no partner or feeder schools on the pages we read, and no catchment area is published.
16+ entry to the sixth form
Sixth form entry at 16+ follows the standard application, reference and interview process, and the pages we read do not publish minimum GCSE grades or entrance papers. Applicants send their latest school report, are interviewed by the Head of Senior where invited, and can attend a sixth form evening held in the Michaelmas term.
Sixth form scholarships carry fee remission of up to 15% plus enrichment opportunities. The Nelson Scholarship offers fully or partly funded Lower Sixth places covering tuition only, assessed at an assessment day in the Michaelmas term, whilst the Anthony Arthur Coward Scholarship funds one place fully for two years and combines the bursary process with an assessment and interview. Courses include A levels, BTECs and the EPQ.
How to prepare
Preparation for Langley centres on the stages the school describes: the interview, the taster day, the assessment and, for scholarship candidates, a discipline-specific audition or paper. Because assessment content is unpublished, a short call to admissions about what to expect gives the most reliable guide to what to practise.
For the interview, a child can talk comfortably about their school work, hobbies and reasons for choosing Langley. Bringing the latest school report and having a reference request ready speeds the registration stage.
Scholarship candidates can prepare in their chosen area with the Head of Department or coach who will write the reference, since past assessments have included practical elements such as a food and nutrition examination. Families applying for a bursary can gather the financial statement early.
