You get into Priory School, Edgbaston by registering with the admissions team and then sitting the assessment for your child's entry point, which at 11+ is an Entrance Examination Day with the school's own tests in mathematics, English and non-verbal reasoning. Entry is also available at Reception (4+), at 7+ into Year 3 and at 16+ into the sixth form, and places often arise in other year groups too.
The published pages describe a process built around a registration form, assessment, an offer letter and an acceptance deposit, with a verbal reference from the current school sometimes requested. Some details, including test lengths, numbers of places and sixth form requirements, are not published on the pages read, so the guide says so and points to the admissions team.

Entry points and places
The usual entry points are Early Years from six months, Reception at 4+, Year 7 at 11+ and the sixth form at 16+, according to the admissions policy. The same policy adds that places often become available at other points during the year, so families are advised to ask whether a place exists in the right year group.
Scholarship pages also name 7+ entry into Year 3. Numbers of places and forms of entry are not published on the pages read. The sixth form page lists admissions links only, so entry requirements at 16+ need to be confirmed with the admissions team.
- Priory Poppets: Early Years, six months to four years
- Preparatory School: ages 4 to 11, entry at Reception, 7+ and other years where places exist
- Senior School: ages 11 to 16, main entry at Year 7
- Sixth Form: ages 16 to 18
How the 11+ assessment works
The 11+ assessment is an Entrance Examination Day made up of the school's own tests in mathematics, English and non-verbal reasoning. The admissions policy does not name an external test provider, and paper lengths and question types are not published.
Results of the tests are confidential to the school and are not released to families. Candidates applying for a scholarship sit the same Entrance Examination, and families with a diagnosed learning difficulty or a need for extra time are asked to say so on the registration form and supply any educational psychologist reports, after which the school decides what special conditions apply.

Registration comes first, through the online registration form, by email to the admissions team or by phone, usually followed by an open event or a personal family tour on a normal school day. A one-off, non-refundable registration fee including VAT is paid with the form. For the 11+ exam, the policy asks for the form and fee at least one week before the Entrance Examination.
The admissions page then describes two taster days, during which the child meets teachers and classmates and is assessed to show their academic level. Offers follow the assessments, with a formal offer letter sent by email and post.
- Get in touch or book a visit
- Complete the registration form and pay the registration fee
- Sit the assessment (taster days or the Entrance Examination Day)
- Receive the offer, waiting-list or decline letter
- Return the acceptance form and pay the acceptance fee and new starter deposit
Interviews and references
At 11+ some candidates may be invited to an interview with a member of the Senior Leadership Team, while at Prep and in Years 8 and above the day visit includes a discussion or interview with the child's family. The policy describes this as a chance for the family to decide on the school as much as for the school to learn about the child.
The school may contact the child's present school for a verbal reference before making an offer. Once a place is accepted, it asks the previous school for an academic and behavioural report and a transfer and safeguarding form. Admission looks at the full range of a child's abilities and talents, not academic ability alone.
Scholarships and bursaries
Academic scholarships are offered at 7+ and 11+, and performance scholarships cover sport, music and art and design at both points, with performing arts added at 11+. The scholarship page says awards recognise academic, sporting, musical and creative ability, and applicants should show a positive attitude and active involvement in school life.
Candidates attend Scholarship Experience Days after an application deadline, and the Scholarship and Bursary Booklet gives the full detail. Bursaries are means-tested and awarded only in rare cases, reviewed termly or annually. The maximum share of fees is not published, so the admissions team guides families through the process.
Fees and what they include
Per-term fees sit in downloadable fee documents on the school's fees page, with separate documents for the school and for Priory Poppets and Nursery, so families should read the document there. Fees are due on the first day of term by bank transfer, debit card or credit card.
Beyond tuition, new families pay the registration fee, then an acceptance fee made up of an administrative element and a new starter deposit. The deposit is held without interest until the child leaves. A sibling allowance applies to the youngest child's fee, and the School Fee Plan with Premium Credit spreads each term across four monthly instalments.
Where pupils join from
Pupils join the Senior School from Priory's own Preparatory School, which takes children from age 4 to 11, and from other schools through the Year 7 Entrance Examination Day. The school also runs Priory Poppets for children from six months to four years.
No named feeder or partner schools appear on the pages read, and no catchment area is stated. The policy says that if a waiting list forms, preference factors apply, including performance and position in the Entrance Examination and scholarship results.
How to prepare for the 11+ day
Preparation for the 11+ centres on the three papers named in the policy: mathematics, English and non-verbal reasoning, set by the school itself. Because no past papers or test lengths are published, work at the level of the Key Stage 2 curriculum and practise unfamiliar non-verbal reasoning question types so the format feels routine.
Children who may be invited to interview benefit from talking about their interests and favourite subjects. If a child has a diagnosed learning difficulty, tell the school on the registration form in good time so any extra time can be agreed before the day.
